Respect

Profile
Musical Background: I spent my younger years (from 13 to 19) singing with a large international choir, called The Silver Ring. Choral music was my first love, and I learnt a lot from the experience, like how to control and project whilst breathing correctly, harmonise, read music, and most importantly, gave me experience and confidence to perform infront of large audiences. The Silver Ring always performed at large venues on REALLY big stages, and that is where my love of the stage took over. I then decided to join an amateur dramatics society, where I found that not only could I sing, but my acting wasn't half bad either! I have performed as Eliza in My Fair Lady and appeared in MANY pantomimes, so singing with Respect comes quite naturally really!

Musical Influences: Up until the age of 9 or 10, Julie Andrews was my main source of inspiration. As I grew, so did my influences, and to this day I have great admiration for Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Dionne Warwick and Sister Sledge, to name but a few.

Best Moment in Respect: One of my most memorable gigs has to be the North West Festival, Chippenham. Huge stage and an even bigger audience! One of my favourite venues has to be The Hotel Du Vin in Bristol, where we have played a succession of New Years Eve shows. There really is nothing better than knowing the audience is having a good time, and when you look up and see people literally dancing on the bar, you just know you've got it right!

I can't tell you how humbling it is to be a part of a band that consists of such knowledgeable and competent musicians... not to mention the vocalists! The last 6 or so years have certainly been a learning curve!
